The 3rd National Lok Adalat of 2026 is taking place today, September 12, 2026, across India, facilitating the settlement of cases through mutual consent.

Court benches from the Supreme Court to local district and taluk complexes are operational, except in New Delhi, where the event is postponed to October 25, 2026, due to court calendar changes and BRICS Summit preparations.

Types of Cases Handled

Today, individuals with pending or pre-litigation matters can settle them amicably without incurring court fees.

The types of cases addressed include traffic challans, cheque bounce cases under Section 138 of the NI Act, utility bills like electricity and water, bank loan recovery, credit card disputes, civil and labour disputes, and family and matrimonial disputes, excluding divorce.

Key Benefits of Settling Today

Participants in the Lok Adalat benefit from zero court fees, as any original court fee paid will be refunded if the case is already pending.

The decisions made are binding decrees equivalent to civil court orders, preventing further appeals. Additionally, many states and utility companies offer waivers on interest, penalties, or civil liabilities for cases settled today.

Exception in New Delhi and Other Regions

While the Lok Adalat is active nationwide, New Delhi is an exception. The event there is postponed to October 25, 2026, due to adjustments in the court calendar and preparations for the upcoming BRICS Summit. This delay ensures that the necessary resources and attention are available for the summit.

According to the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) calendar, the National Lok Adalat scheduled for September 2026 features modified dates for specific regions: it will be held in Karnataka on 19th September 2026, in Rajasthan on 10th October 2026, and in Delhi on 25th October 2026.

Conclusion

The 3rd National Lok Adalat of 2026 facilitates the settlement of various cases across India on September 12, 2026, excluding New Delhi, where it is postponed to October 25, 2026. Participants benefit from zero court fees and binding decisions.
