Ministry of Defence Lists 405 Items Worth ₹3,070 Crore Under 6th Positive Indigenisation List

The Ministry of Defence has notified the sixth Positive Indigenisation List (PIL), covering 405 defence items with an estimated value of ₹3,070 crore, as per a PIB press release.
The items will be developed in India and procured from Indian suppliers after they are successfully indigenised.
What the List Includes
The 405 items cover components, sub-systems, sub-assemblies, spares, Line Replaceable Units and raw materials used by the armed forces. Of these, 389 are linked to Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) and 16 to the Indian Coast Guard (ICG).
Aircraft and Armoured Equipment
Aircraft and engine-related items include the Advanced Light Helicopter, Light Utility Helicopter, Su-30MKI, Light Combat Aircraft and AL-31FP Engine.
The T-72, T-90 and BMP-II are among the armoured platforms covered. The list also includes the Konkurs-M, Invar and MRSAM missile systems, and warships.
Defence Electronics Included
Radars, sonars, fire control systems, and satellite communication systems are among the electronics covered by the list. High Explosive Anti-Tank ammunition is also included.
The detailed list is available on the SRIJAN Defence Portal, where each item has an indicative timeline for indigenisation.
Domestic Development
DPSUs and the ICG will take up the development through routes such as the ‘Make’ procedure and in-house development. Indian industry, including micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), will be involved in the process.
Once the listed items are developed successfully in India, they will be procured from domestic suppliers.
Earlier Indigenisation
The Department of Defence Production launched the SRIJAN Defence Portal in August 2020. It allows DPSUs and Service Headquarters to offer defence items to Indian industry for domestic development and production.
By June 2026, more than 33,000 defence items had been offered through the portal. The first five Positive Indigenisation Lists accounted for 5,012 of these items.
More than 15,700 defence items have been indigenised, resulting in an estimated import substitution value of about ₹9,000 crore over five years. DPSUs also placed procurement orders worth around ₹10,000 crore with domestic vendors, including in-house production, up to March 2026.
