India's Tanker Exports Rise More Than 6 Times to $1.36 Billion in Q1 FY27

India's tanker exports went up sharply in the April-June quarter of FY27. The country exported tankers worth $1.36 billion, compared with $221.1 million in the same quarter last year, as per The Business Line news report.
UAE Was the Biggest Buyer
The UAE bought the highest number of Indian tankers during the quarter.
India's tanker exports to the UAE were worth $900.8 million, compared with $103.6 million last year.
Singapore was the 2nd biggest buyer of Indian tankers. Exports to this country rose to $146.4 million from $45.5 million a year earlier. The number of vessels exported also increased from two to six.
Exports to Oman Also Increased
Oman was another important market for Indian tankers. Exports to the country increased from $28.6 million to $131.6 million.
A large part of India's tanker exports went to countries in the Gulf region.
India Ships Tankers to More Countries
India also exported tankers to several other countries during the quarter.
Exports to Sri Lanka increased from $7.9 million to $56.5 million. New shipments were also recorded to Egypt, South Africa, Vietnam, Indonesia and Mozambique.
Exports to these countries were worth $39.3 million, $34.2 million, $31.5 million, $12.2 million and $7.7 million respectively.
Tanker Exports Show Growth in Shipbuilding
The rise in tanker exports is also good news for India's shipbuilding industry. More Indian-built vessels are now being sold to other countries.
The increase was seen in both the number of vessels and the value of exports during the quarter.
