
The Union Cabinet has given the green light for the expansion of the Delhi Metro network, approving a budget of ₹12,015 crore.
This development will see the addition of 13 new stations across 3 corridors, enhancing connectivity in the Central Vista area, the domestic airport, and southern Delhi neighbourhoods.
On December 24, 2025, the Union Cabinet approved the Delhi Metro Phase V(A) project, which will introduce 3 new corridors covering a total of 16.076 km. The project is a collaborative funding effort involving the Centre, the Delhi government, and international funding agencies. Upon completion, the Metro network will extend beyond 400 km, up from the current 395 km.
These new corridors aim to reduce pollution and fossil fuel usage, thereby improving the ease of living for Delhi residents. The Delhi Metro currently serves approximately 6.5 million commuters daily across the National Capital Region (NCR).
The RK Ashram Marg–Indraprastha corridor, stretching 9.913 km, will extend the Botanical Garden–RK Ashram Marg line, connecting West, North, and Old Delhi to the Central Vista area.
The stations on this line will include RK Ashram Marg, Shivaji Stadium, Central Secretariat, Kartavya Bhawan, India Gate, War Memorial - High Court, Baroda House, Bharat Mandapam, and Indraprastha.
The Aerocity–Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal 1 corridor, measuring 2.263 km, will extend the Aerocity–Tughlakabad line, providing Metro access to the domestic airport terminal.
The Tughlakabad–Kalindi Kunj corridor, at 3.9 km, will connect southern Delhi neighbourhoods such as Tughlakabad, Saket, and Kalindi Kunj, with stations at Sarita Vihar Depot, Madanpur Khadar, and Kalindi Kunj.

Currently, the construction of Delhi Metro’s Phase IV project is underway, with over 80% of civil work on priority corridors completed. These sections are expected to be commissioned in stages by December 2026, further enhancing the city's transport infrastructure.
The approved expansion of the Delhi Metro network, with 13 new stations and 3 corridors, represents a significant step towards improving urban mobility in the capital.
