The Transportation Infrastructure business vertical of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a significant order for the Mumbai Metro railway project, further strengthening its presence in India’s urban mass transit segment.
The order has been awarded by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) for Package CA-298 of the Mumbai Metro Line 4 project.
The project pertains to the electrification of the 24.72 km-long Mumbai Metro Line 4, which runs between Bhakti Park at Wadala and Cadbury Junction. The corridor comprises 22 elevated stations and is a key part of Mumbai’s expanding metro network aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving urban mobility.
L&T’s scope under the contract includes the design, manufacture, supply, installation, integration, testing and commissioning of the power supply and traction systems for the entire 24.72 route kilometres.
In addition, the company will provide the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for the complete Metro Line 4 and 4A network, covering 32 stations, depots and receiving substations.
The scope also includes electrical and mechanical works, as well as the installation of lifts and escalators across 22 elevated stations and two depots. The project further covers five years of comprehensive maintenance, ensuring long-term operational reliability.
All activities under the project will be executed by L&T’s in-house design and execution teams, highlighting the company’s integrated engineering and project management capabilities. This approach is expected to ensure efficient coordination, quality control and timely completion.
This marks the third successive order won by L&T in the Mumbai Metro Line 4 and 4A corridor. Earlier, the company secured Package CA-234, which included rolling stock, CBTC signalling, telecommunications, platform screen doors and depot machinery for the entire corridor. L&T had also won Package CA-168 for ballast-less track works spanning 19.5 km across 15 stations.
On December 24, 2025, L&T share price (NSE: LT) opened at ₹4,065.00, touching the day’s low at ₹4,048.10, as of 11:10 AM on the NSE.
