Bharat-VISTAAR Launched: AI Platform to Give Farmers 24x7 Access to Key Services

The Union government has launched Bharat-VISTAAR, an AI-powered digital platform designed to give farmers across India round-the-clock access to important agriculture-related information through a single interface.
The platform was launched in Jaipur by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma also present at the event.
What is Special About Bharat-VISTAAR?
Bharat-VISTAAR stands for Virtually Integrated System to Access Agricultural Resources. The goal is to bring scattered farm-related services under one umbrella and provide farmers with personalised, location-specific support.
Bharat-VISTAAR offers farmers easy access to:
- Weather forecasts
- Market and mandi prices
- Crop and livestock guidance
- Pest and disease alerts
- Details of government schemes and benefit status
The platform is designed as a farmer-centric digital public infrastructure, built on a “plug-and-play” model. This means it can integrate easily with central, state, and cooperative systems over time.
Does Bharat VISTAAR Offer Audio Support?
A key highlight of Bharat-VISTAAR is that it is voice-first, meaning farmers can use it even without smartphones. Farmers can call a dedicated helpline number to access services. Along with this, the platform also supports chatbots and web-based tools.
An Android app is expected to be rolled out later, expanding access for smartphone users.
Where Does Bharat VISTAAR Source its Data?
The platform combines information from several national systems, including:
- Weather data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD)
- Mandi price data from Agmarknet
- Pest and disease alerts from the National Pest Surveillance System
- Advisory inputs from the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)
It also includes ICAR’s package of practices and recommendations based on soil health.
Scheme Access and Farmer Support Tools
In the first stage, farmers can access information on 10 major central schemes, including:
- PM-KISAN
- PM Fasal Bima Yojana
- Soil Health Card
- Kisan Credit Card
Farmers can also check benefit status, register complaints, and receive guidance related to crops and livestock.

Conclusion
Bharat-VISTAAR is a major step towards making agricultural services more accessible, especially for farmers using basic phones. By bringing weather, mandi rates, advisories, and scheme details into one AI-powered platform, the initiative could improve decision-making and reduce information gaps across rural India.
