The Union government has launched Bharat-VISTAAR, an AI-powered digital platform designed to give farmers across India round-the-clock access to important agriculture-related information through a single interface.
The platform was launched in Jaipur by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma also present at the event.
Bharat-VISTAAR stands for Virtually Integrated System to Access Agricultural Resources. The goal is to bring scattered farm-related services under one umbrella and provide farmers with personalised, location-specific support.
Bharat-VISTAAR offers farmers easy access to:
The platform is designed as a farmer-centric digital public infrastructure, built on a “plug-and-play” model. This means it can integrate easily with central, state, and cooperative systems over time.
A key highlight of Bharat-VISTAAR is that it is voice-first, meaning farmers can use it even without smartphones. Farmers can call a dedicated helpline number to access services. Along with this, the platform also supports chatbots and web-based tools.
An Android app is expected to be rolled out later, expanding access for smartphone users.
The platform combines information from several national systems, including:
It also includes ICAR’s package of practices and recommendations based on soil health.
In the first stage, farmers can access information on 10 major central schemes, including:
Farmers can also check benefit status, register complaints, and receive guidance related to crops and livestock.

Bharat-VISTAAR is a major step towards making agricultural services more accessible, especially for farmers using basic phones. By bringing weather, mandi rates, advisories, and scheme details into one AI-powered platform, the initiative could improve decision-making and reduce information gaps across rural India.
