The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways is introducing a FASTag-based Annual Pass for ₹3,000, offering up to 200 toll-free trips in a year for private vehicles. Aimed at easing regular highway travel, this pass could help commuters save thousands annually.
Let’s break down the FASTag math to understand where it adds value and when it might be the right choice for frequent travellers.
The FASTag Annual Pass is particularly advantageous for frequent highway users, especially those commuting daily or several times a week across short to medium distances.
If a commuter typically pays ₹50 per toll crossing, they would spend around ₹10,000 for 200 trips in a year. With the annual pass, the cost is fixed at just ₹3,000 — a potential saving of ₹7,000. The higher the regular toll charges on a user’s route, the greater the benefit from switching to the pass.
To activate or renew the FASTag Annual Pass, users will soon be able to access a dedicated link via the Rajmarg Yatra App or visit the official websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and MoRTH, as per news reports.
Once activated, the pass will be linked to the vehicle's FASTag and remain valid for 12 months or 200 toll transactions — whichever comes first. It is applicable only for private, non-commercial vehicles.
Starting August 15, 2025, private vehicle owners in India can benefit from a FASTag Annual Pass that promises to make highway travel more affordable and efficient. Priced at ₹3,000, this pass will be valid for either one year or up to 200 toll crossings, whichever occurs first. The initiative is a key move by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) to address toll-related concerns and promote seamless travel across national highways.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the development via a social media post, highlighting that this pass is specifically designed for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans.

The ₹3,000 FASTag Annual Pass presents a potentially cost-effective solution for frequent highway commuters, especially those who travel short to medium distances regularly. While the savings can be substantial for some, its value will depend on individual usage patterns and toll rates on specific routes. Understanding the math behind the plan can help travellers decide whether this offering aligns with their travel needs and budgets.
