Closing Bell: Sensex Flat, Nifty Gains 0.1%; Mixed Sectoral Performance on December 26

On December 26, 2024, the stock market had a quiet trading session with little overall change. 

The BSE Sensex closed nearly flat at 78,472.48, down just 0.39 points, after moving between 78,898.37 and 78,173.38 during the day. On the NSE, the Nifty50 ended slightly higher at 23,750.20, gaining 22.55 points or 0.1%. It reached a high of 23,854.50 and a low of 23,653.60.

Top Gainers and Losers

Out of the 50 stocks in the Nifty50, 31 closed with gains. Adani Ports, Shriram Finance, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, and SBI Life Insurance were the top gainers, rising up to 5.22%. On the losing side, Titan, Asian Paints, Grasim, JSW Steel, and Tata Consumer Products dropped by up to 1.17%. Infosys ended the day unchanged.

Sectoral Performance

Sector-wise performance was mixed. Indices like Nifty Auto, Pharma, Financials, PSU Bank, Realty, and Healthcare saw gains of up to 0.84%. Meanwhile, sectors including FMCG, IT, Metal, Private Bank, and Media recorded losses, falling by up to 1.46%.

Oil Prices

As of December 26, 2024, at 03:49 PM, Brent Crude was trading at $74.00, up by 0.57%.
