The National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) in India will be closed on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, for Gandhi Jayanti. This national holiday marks the birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, an important leader in India’s fight for independence, known for his teachings of non-violence and peaceful protest.

A trading or stock market holiday is a day when the stock exchange is closed, meaning no trading takes place. This means that any pending orders won’t undergo settlement on holidays like NSE and BSE holidays.

All trading activities, including stocks, equity derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB), will be closed.

The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also be closed for both trading sessions on October 2. Trading will resume as usual on Thursday, October 3.
