About Meenakshi (India)
Meenakshi India Limited was founded as a textile trading company by Mr. Shyam Sunder Goenka, establishing its base in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India since year 1982. The Company commenced its own manufacturing unit in 1990 ,which has keen interest in steel, plantations, power generation, industrial warehousing, and education. With its head office in Chennai, MIL operates 3 advanced manufacturing units in Salem, Tamil Nadu, India, producing up to 240,000 garments each month.
Company ventured into Agricultural business by acquiring 280 acres of agricultural land in Sirumalai, Dindigul, for coffee, pepper and other seasonal fruits in 1993. In 2001, it relocated the manufacturing operations to Salem, a major textile hub in southwest of Chennai. The production capacity was doubled by setting up a Unit 2 in Salem and by expanding into bottomwear and outerwear markets in 2006-07.
Washing Unit Laundry and embroidery facilities were introduced in 2008. A third manufacturing unit established with additional sewing capacity added to Unit 2, building total manufacturing capacity to 100,000 garments per month across all three Salem facilities in 2011. Later, the third unit was expanded by 50%, increasing the monthly capacity to 150,000 garments in FY22. The Company further ventured into athleisure production through diversification in 2023.
