History of GMR Airports Infrastructure Limited (GIL)

Incorporated in 1996, GMR Airports Infrastructure Limited (GIL) is involved in the development, operation and maintenance of airports. The company also offers integrated security solutions. The company is a subsidiary of GMR Enterprises Private Limited (GEPL). GIL operates through two companies:

1. GMR Airports Limited (GAL), which manages the airport segments and
2. RAXA Techno Security Solutions manages the security solutions.

GMR Airports Limited is a prominent global airport developer that possesses a distinguished portfolio of airport assets. The company was originally incorporated as Varalakshmi Vasavi Power Projects Limited. In 1999, the company changed its name to GMR Vasavi Infrastructure Finance Limited, which was renamed again in 2004 to GMR Infrastructure Limited. In 2006, GMR Infrastructure - GMR Hyderabad International Airport awarded In-flight catering contracts. The company released its IPO in the same year and is listed on the BSE and NSE. Since 2008, the company and the GMR Group have signed MOUs for Hydro Electric Projects in Nepal. Later, it partnered with Indraprastha Apollo Hospital for medical facilities at Delhi Airport. In 2009, the company was given the Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway project. In 2011, the company won the Mega Highway Project. Meanwhile, the company has established its international presence by taking up international airport contracts in Indonesia, Greece and the Philippines. In 2022, the company changed its name to GMR Airports Infrastructure Limited. To strengthen its capabilities in the airport sector, GMR Airports Infrastructure Limited has formed a strategic partnership with Groupe ADP by giving it a stake of 49% in GMR Airports Limited. The airport portfolio of the company comprises Delhi International Airport, Hyderabad International Airport in India, Mactan Cebu International Airport in Philippines, New Heraklion International Airport in Greece, Greenfield Airport in Goa, etc.

• Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC): Under this segment, the company handles EPC solutions in the infrastructure sector. They have constructed several international airports in India and other countries as well.
