KGPL operates a natural gas-based captive power plant of 14 megawatt capacity at Maruthur Village, Mayiladuthurai Taluk, Nagapattinam District in Tamil Nadu, India. Elango Industries Limited is a Public Limited Company established in 1989 and was manufacturing Steel Ingots from 1991 to 2003. The company was promoted by Mr. S. Elangova. The Company came with Public Issue in the year 1993 for Rs. 2.63 Corer. In the year 2005, the company decided to enter into power sector through its investment in Kaveri Gas Power Ltd, an SPV. During the fiscal year ended March 31, 2010 (fiscal 2010), its plant and machinery had manufacturing capacity of 13,000 tons per annum of steel ingots from metal scraps.
