Tata Power Company Limited has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, for the acquisition of the project special purpose vehicle (SPV), Jejuri Hinjewadi Power Transmission Limited.
This development marks another milestone in Tata Power’s expansion within India’s power transmission sector and supports the growing demand for reliable, high-capacity electricity infrastructure.
The Jejuri Hinjewadi Power Transmission Project will be developed on a Build-Own-Operate Transfer (BOOT) model. Under this framework, Tata Power will design, construct, operate, and maintain the transmission assets for a period of 35 years, beginning from the Scheduled Commercial Operation Date (SCOD).
The SCOD is set at 24 months from the effective date of SPV transfer. This long-term operational responsibility ensures stable revenue generation and enhances Tata Power’s role in strengthening regional power networks.
A major component of the project includes the construction of approximately 115 km of 400 kV double-circuit overhead transmission line connecting Jejuri and Hinjewadi. The project also involves extending 400 kV Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) line bays at the existing substations located in both regions.
These upgrades will significantly improve load handling, reduce transmission congestion, and support industrial and urban growth in the Pune region. The nature of the contract is domestic, with all execution and operations taking place within India.
The contract has been awarded by a domestic entity, reinforcing Tata Power’s strong presence in national infrastructure development. The overall project will be executed over a 35-year period, aligning with the duration of the Transmission Service Agreement.
The annual transmission charges for the project have been set at ₹155.78 crore, ensuring predictable long-term earnings for Tata Power while meeting the power needs of a rapidly developing industrial corridor.
On December 12, 2025, Tata Power share price (NSE: TATAPOWER) opened at ₹382.10, touching the day’s high at ₹383.60, as of 9:26 AM on the NSE.

The acquisition of the Jejuri Hinjewadi Power Transmission SPV positions Tata Power to play a pivotal role in enhancing Maharashtra’s high-voltage transmission network. With a long-term BOOT model and substantial annual revenue, the project strengthens the company’s infrastructure portfolio and supports India’s broader goal of building resilient and efficient power transmission systems.
