
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has completed the well control operation at Well Mori-5 after a blowout incident earlier this month.
The capping operation was carried out within five days, supported by specialised teams and equipment. With the well now stabilised, ONGC has issued its final field update on the incident.
ONGC share price traded 0.19% higher at ₹234.53 at 12:35 PM on the NSE.
The blowout at Well Mori-5 occurred on 5 January 2026 during servicing activities conducted by PEC contractor M/s Deep Industries Limited.
Following the incident, ONGC initiated its internal crisis management procedures to address the situation and limit operational risks.
Specialised personnel and equipment were deployed to manage the incident and carry out the capping operation.
ONGC stated that the well control process was completed within five days, bringing the situation under control and enabling the conclusion of field-level operations linked to the event.
With well control now established, ONGC has announced that this update serves as the final official communication regarding the Mori-5 incident.
Routine operational activities and oversight will continue as per standard protocols.
ONGC acknowledged the cooperation of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, as well as state, district, and local authorities.
The company also recognised the assistance of elected representatives and district officials for their on-ground coordination during the response process.
The company reiterated its focus on safety practices, environmental responsibility, and operational discipline across its facilities, noting that these remain central to its ongoing activities.
