MSCI Rejig: Laurus Labs, Lenskart, Adani Energy, and Billionbrains Gain; Astral, BKT, SBI Card Excluded

On August 13, 2026, MSCI announced changes to the MSCI India Index with the inclusion of Laurus Labs Ltd., Lenskart Solutions Ltd., Adani Energy Solutions Ltd., and Billionbrains Garage Ventures Ltd, as per The Moneycontrol news report.
Stocks such as Astral Ltd., Balkrishna Industries Ltd., and SBI Cards & Payment Services Ltd. are set to be removed from the index, as outlined by the index provider. The rebalancing is scheduled for August 31, 2026.
MSCI India Index Inclusions
The upcoming changes to the MSCI India Index will see the addition of 4 companies: Laurus Labs, Lenskart, Adani Energy Solutions, and Billionbrains Garage Ventures.
Billionbrains, which owns the discount broking firm Groww, is among the newly included stocks. As per the data, Laurus Labs could attract potential inflows of $598 million, Lenskart $352 million, Adani Energy $310 million, and Billionbrains $256 million.
MSCI Index Exclusions and Impact
Conversely, the exclusion of Astral, Balkrishna Industries, and SBI Card from the MSCI India Index is projected to lead to net outflows ranging from $140 million to $170 million.
Astral and Balkrishna Industries will transition to the MSCI India Smallcap Index post-exclusion.
MSCI India Smallcap Index Adjustments
New entrants into the MSCI India Smallcap Index include Amagi Media Labs, Ather Energy, Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions, Dalmia Bharat, E2E Networks, Embassy Developments, L&T Technology Services, Rubicon Research, Sedemac Mechatronics, Sky Gold and Diamonds, Urban Company, and WeWork India.
Companies set for exclusion from the smallcap index are Aurionpro Solutions, CMS Info Systems, Entero Healthcare Solutions, GMR Power & Urban Infra, ICRA, Latent View Analytics, MAS Financial Services, Mastek, MOIL, Network18, Nippon India Life Asset Management, PTC India, Rallis India, RCF, RattanIndia Power, Star Cement, Transrail Lighting, and Valor Estate.

Changes in MSCI Standard Index Weightage
MSCI has also noted potential adjustments in the weightage of certain stocks. Eternal, Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports & SEZ, JSW Energy, Adani Power, GMR Airports, and Swiggy may see an increase in weightage, while Reliance Industries and others could witness a reduction.
The increase in Eternal's weightage could result in inflows worth $674 million, and Adani Enterprises might see $202 million.
Conclusion
The MSCI India Index will include Laurus Labs, Lenskart, Adani Energy, and Billionbrains, potentially resulting in inflows up to $1,516 million.
