izmo Limited has announced that its semiconductor packaging subsidiary is entering India’s defence electronics ecosystem. The move aligns with the country’s push for domestic manufacturing and technological self-reliance in strategic sectors.

With increasing defence spending and policy support for local sourcing, the development may open new opportunities for advanced semiconductor packaging in mission-critical defence applications.

Subsidiary Expands into Defence Electronics

izmo Microsystems Pvt. Ltd. (izmomicro) confirmed its entry into India’s defence electronics value chain as a packaging partner for specialised electronic systems.

The company is currently working with organisations across the defence sector, including government research institutions, defence public sector enterprises and private defence manufacturers. These collaborations focus on advanced semiconductor packaging required for mission-critical defence programmes.

Focus on High-Complexity Defence Systems

The semiconductor packaging technologies developed by izmomicro are designed for complex defence electronics applications. These include:

  • Radar and sensing technologies
  • High-frequency RF and microwave assemblies used in communication and electronic warfare systems
  • Electronics used in fighter aircraft and unmanned aerial platforms
  • Guidance systems supporting precision munitions programmes

Such components form a key part of modern defence electronics and require high reliability and specialised engineering.

Policy Environment Supporting Domestic Manufacturing

India’s defence sector has been undergoing structural changes aimed at increasing domestic participation. The government has prioritised procurement from local companies as part of its indigenisation strategy.

The country’s defence budget for FY2026–27 has reached around ₹7.85 lakh crore, with a significant share of capital acquisition spending reserved for domestic manufacturers. These measures are intended to encourage the development of local capabilities across the defence supply chain.

Role of Semiconductor Ecosystem Initiatives

The expansion also aligns with broader initiatives to strengthen India’s semiconductor industry. Under the India Semiconductor Mission, the government has allocated ₹76,000 crore to support semiconductor manufacturing, packaging and testing infrastructure.

Several projects have already been approved under the programme, representing substantial investments across multiple states. These initiatives aim to build domestic expertise in semiconductor technologies considered strategically important.

Technology Capabilities of izmomicro

izmomicro has developed expertise in advanced semiconductor packaging technologies over the past two decades. Its capabilities include:

  • Silicon photonics packaging
  • Three-dimensional System-in-Package (SiP) architectures
  • RF and microwave assembly
  • High-reliability hermetic packaging technologies

The company operates advanced facilities including a cleanroom manufacturing environment in Bengaluru, supporting semiconductor assembly and packaging operations.

IZMO Share Price Performance

Shares of IZMO Limited closed at ₹711.20 on 9 March 2026, marking an increase of ₹33.85 or 5.00% compared with the previous closing price of ₹677.35.

During the trading session, the stock opened at ₹652.00, touched a high of ₹711.20, and recorded a low of ₹643.50.

Conclusion

The entry of izmomicro into the defence electronics sector represents a strategic expansion for izmo Limited as India continues to strengthen domestic technology capabilities in critical industries. With growing policy support for indigenous manufacturing and rising demand for advanced electronics in defence applications, semiconductor packaging companies may play a larger role in the evolving ecosystem.
