Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has opened a new Industrial Autonomy & Engineering Lab at its Sahyadri Park campus in Pune, as per the exchange filing.

The facility, called the Lights-Out Factory, is designed to show how manufacturing operations can run with minimal human intervention by bringing AI, robotics, and digital systems together.

The company describes it as India's first lights-out factory lab. A fully robotic battery pack assembly line forms the centre of the facility, giving manufacturers a live setup in which different production stages can be tested.

Pune Lab Brings AI and Robotics Together

The facility combines digital twins, industrial AI, factory control systems, and real-time operational intelligence under TCS' Human+AI Service Autonomy Model.

Manufacturers can use the setup to try out production scenarios before putting similar systems into an actual factory. The lab is also intended to help them prototype and validate AI-led production systems while limiting deployment risks.

Several Manufacturing Applications Covered

The lab has been built around practical industrial applications rather than a single technology. These include predictive maintenance, automated quality checks, process optimisation and human-machine collaboration.

Its technology stack also includes digital twin simulations, Vision AI, industrial automation and systems that connect shop-floor data with edge and cloud platforms.

TCS Builds on Industrial Autonomy Work

The Pune facility is the latest addition to TCS' industrial autonomy initiatives. Earlier this year, the company launched an Industrial Autonomy & Engineering Lab powered by NVIDIA in Bengaluru for Physical AI applications in the industrial and mobility sectors.

Sreenivasa Chakravarti, Global Head and Vice President of Industrial Autonomy and Engineering at TCS, said the new lab can help customers move from digitally enabled operations towards increasingly autonomous production systems.

SKF's Joakim Landholm said the facility can help industries turn advanced automation and industrial AI into measurable operational value.

TCS Share Price Performance

As of 09 September 2026, at 12:45 PM, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd share price is trading at ₹2,210 per share, reflecting a decline of 2.02% from the previous trading session.

Conclusion

TCS' new Pune facility gives manufacturers a working environment to test AI-led and autonomous production systems before deployment. The company is using the lab to bring engineering, manufacturing and factory operations together in one setup.
