
ITC Ltd Chairman Sanjiv Puri on Thursday announced that the company is planning to add 3 more hotels in West Bengal.
The statement was made at the Business & Industry Conclave 2025, where Puri spoke about ITC’s current operations and future plans in the state.
Puri said ITC is in the process of acquiring land for hotel projects in Darjeeling, Kurseong and the Sundarbans.
The company is looking to expand its presence across different tourism regions of the state. Details related to capital expenditure, timelines or project size were not disclosed.
ITC currently operates 7 hotels in West Bengal. These include 2 super luxury properties in Kolkata, ITC Sonar and ITC Royal Bengal.
In addition, 5 hotels are in the pipeline and are being developed through partnership arrangements. 1 of these upcoming properties includes a super luxury hotel planned in Siliguri under a new brand.
Puri said ITC has had a presence in Kolkata for around 115 years, with business interests covering agriculture, manufacturing and services.
Over the last 10 years, the company has invested close to $1 billion in West Bengal. He said the company’s investment decisions are linked to regions that offer sustained business activity.
According to Puri, ITC operates 20 manufacturing facilities in the state, of which 6 are owned by the company. These facilities support ITC’s operations across multiple segments, including packaged foods, personal care and cigarettes.
Puri said ITC’s food processing capacity in West Bengal is among the largest in India. The Panchala food processing plant has expanded from 3 production lines in 2019 to eight production lines at present.
The company has also set up an AI centre in the state last year in partnership with Google, focused on digital applications.
In the agri-business segment, ITC works with around 3 lakh farmers across 18 districts in West Bengal through its ITCMaars platform. The initiatives cover areas such as seed development, potato cultivation, and dairy-related activities.

As of December 19, 2025, 9:19 am, ITC share price was trading at ₹401.10, a 0.17% increase from the previous closing price.
With 3 additional hotels under planning and continued operations across manufacturing, food processing, technology and agriculture, ITC remains active across multiple business segments in West Bengal.
