IdeaForge Technology Ltd has taken a significant step in expanding its global defence footprint as its wholly owned subsidiary, IdeaForge Technology Ind Inc, has launched a specialised drone flight-test training programme for NATO military personnel in the United States.
The programme, conducted at the National Test Pilot School (NTPS), marks the first such initiative by an Indian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) company to train NATO forces using a domestically developed drone platform. The week-long exercise began on March 9 and focuses on advanced drone flight-testing capabilities and mission planning.
The training programme will deploy IdeaForge’s NATO-certified SWITCH UAV platform, offering participants hands-on exposure to drone operations and performance evaluation in simulated operational scenarios.
The training initiative has attracted participation from several major defence forces across the NATO ecosystem and partner countries.
Participants include personnel from the Royal Canadian Air Force, Israeli Air Force, Indian Navy, German Defence Forces (Bundeswehr), Australian Air Force, Italian Air Force, Swedish Armed Forces, and the United States Air Force.
According to IdeaForge, the programme brings together defence personnel from four continents, highlighting growing international interest in advanced UAV systems for tactical and surveillance missions.
The initiative reflects the increasing role of unmanned aerial systems in modern warfare, where drones are widely used for intelligence gathering, reconnaissance, surveillance, and precision mission planning.
The programme revolves around IdeaForge’s SWITCH UAV, a fixed-wing drone designed for long-endurance surveillance missions in complex operational environments.
During the training, participants will go through structured modules covering multiple aspects of drone flight-testing and operational deployment.
Key components of the programme include:
The exercises are designed to replicate real operational conditions, enabling participants to evaluate UAV performance across different mission scenarios.
By simulating field environments, trainees will gain end-to-end exposure to integrated aerial systems used in modern defence operations.
The selection of an Indian UAV developer by the National Test Pilot School reflects the growing global recognition of India’s defence technology capabilities.
IdeaForge stated that the collaboration signals increasing acceptance of indigenous UAV platforms in international tactical applications.
India has been steadily expanding its defence technology exports and capabilities, with unmanned systems emerging as a key area of innovation. Indian drone companies are increasingly supplying advanced surveillance platforms to defence forces and security agencies worldwide.
