IndiGo has announced that it started issuing ₹10,000 travel vouchers from Friday, December 26, 2025, to passengers impacted by the widespread flight disruptions that occurred in early December as mentioned in news reports. The operational crisis affected thousands of flights across the country during the first week of the month.
Passengers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled departure time will also receive monetary compensation ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹10,000. This compensation will be provided as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), with the exact amount determined by the flight’s block time.
The vouchers will be issued to passengers who were booked on specific flights that IndiGo has already identified as being affected by the disruption. These vouchers will be valid for 12 months and can be redeemed on any IndiGo flight.
Starting December 26, IndiGo’s customer service teams will begin contacting affected passengers directly using the contact details available with the airline, as per news reports. For passengers who booked through travel agents or partner platforms, IndiGo is working with these intermediaries to collect passenger contact information. Once the details are obtained, the airline will reach out and issue the travel voucher.
For passengers who cannot be reached, IndiGo will launch a dedicated webpage from January 1. Customers can visit this page, submit their flight details, and claim the ₹10,000 voucher themselves.
IndiGo has stated that refunds for cancelled flights are already being processed and that most passengers have received their money. Any pending refunds will be credited soon. This includes tickets booked directly with IndiGo as well as those purchased through travel agents or online booking platforms.
Background of the disruption
The airline acknowledged the severe inconvenience faced by passengers travelling between December 3 and December 5, many of whom were stranded at airports for hours. The disruption began on December 2 and lasted nearly 10 days, largely due to inadequate planning while implementing new pilot flight duty norms.
During this period, over 2,000 flights were cancelled, affecting peak-season travel in major cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad, and leaving thousands of passengers stranded nationwide.
