On June 3, 2025, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced that its Water & Effluent Treatment (WET) business has received significant orders from the Public Health Engineering Department of Rajasthan. These new projects are part of the state's effort to improve water supply and mitigate water-related issues in rural and urban areas.
Rajasthan Rural Water Supply & Fluorosis Mitigation Project
L&T will undertake the Phase II, Package-1 of the Rajasthan Rural Water Supply and Fluorosis Mitigation Project. The project involves:
- Laying 5,251 km of water transmission and distribution pipelines
- Building 38 ground-level reservoirs (total capacity: 40 million litres)
- Constructing 132 overhead service reservoirs (total capacity: 25 million litres)
- Setting up 20 pump houses
This project is expected to benefit 285 villages and the towns of Surajgarh and Udaipurwati in the Jhunjhunu district.
Rehabilitation Work in Ajmer District
Another order involves strengthening and upgrading the Kekri-Sarwar water supply system in Ajmer district. The scope includes:
- Laying 43 km of transmission pipelines
- Installing electromechanical systems
- Automation, instrumentation, and SCADA works (monitoring systems)
- A 1-year defect liability period
- 10 years of operations and maintenance

These new contracts are repeat orders, reflecting the trust and confidence in L&T's ability to deliver large-scale water infrastructure projects. The company has already successfully executed 24 water projects in Rajasthan alone.
Project Value and Classification
According to L&T’s classification, significant orders are those valued between ₹1,000 crore and ₹2,500 crore. Although the exact value is not disclosed, these orders fall within that range.
