If you're planning a bank visit this week, be aware that branches in select Indian cities will be closed for two days due to Bakrid celebrations. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has listed June 6 and 7, 2025, as official bank holidays in various regions. However, digital banking services will continue uninterrupted.

Bank Holiday on June 2: Telangana

June 2 is observed as a public holiday in Telangana to mark the state’s formation day. In celebration of this historic occasion, banks across the state remain closed, allowing residents to take part in the festivities and honour Telangana’s journey and achievements.

Bank Holiday on June 6: Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram

Banks in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram will remain closed on Friday, June 6, in observance of Id-ul-Ad’ha (Bakrid). The Islamic festival marks the devotion of Prophet Ibrahim and is observed widely across India with special prayers and celebrations.

Bank Holiday on June 7: Most Indian Cities

On Saturday, June 7, banks will be closed nationwide, except in Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Itanagar, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram, for Bakri ID (Id-ul-Zuha). These cities will operate as usual since it is the first Saturday of the month, when banks remain open.

June 8: Regular Sunday Closure

As per RBI guidelines, all banks across India will be closed on Sunday, June 8, following the regular weekly holiday schedule.

Upcoming Bank Holidays in June 2025

Apart from Bakrid, the following are additional bank holidays this month:

  • June 11 (Wednesday) – Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti / Saga Dawa – Banks closed in Sikkim and Himachal Pradesh
  • June 27 (Friday) – Ratha Yatra / Kang (Rathajatra) – Banks closed in Odisha and Manipur
  • June 30 (Monday) – Remna Ni – Banks closed in Mizoram

Conclusion

While several cities will observe bank closures this week due to regional holidays and Bakrid celebrations, online banking services will remain accessible nationwide. Additionally, the Indian stock market is not observing a holiday and remains open for regular trading. As always, it's best to check with your local branch or the official RBI holiday list for confirmation based on your location.
