Indian drone maker Garuda Aerospace has received its export licence, unlocking the gateway to international markets including the United States, Australia, and the Middle East. The company, which earlier made a successful debut in Sri Lanka, is now gearing up to expand its drone exports globally. This move aligns with India’s ‘Make in India’ push to promote homegrown technology and manufacturing on a global scale.

Expansion Strategy and Target Markets

Garuda Aerospace will focus initially on exporting its flagship Garuda Kisan Drone, which is designed for precision agriculture and agri-tech services. These will primarily serve high-demand markets such as the US and Australia. In the Middle East, the firm aims to provide drones suited for security and surveillance needs. In an official statement, the company noted its strategy is to cater to specific regional demands in both agricultural and defence-oriented segments.

Strategic Vision and Global Ambitions

Commenting on the development, Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Founder and CEO of Garuda Aerospace, said, “This export license is a monumental step in our journey to becoming a leading global drone exporter. It reflects our commitment to diversifying revenue streams beyond India and gaining an early-mover advantage in emerging drone markets.” The company has already forged global alliances with major players, including Elbit Systems, Lockheed Martin, Cognizant, Thales, and SAS Greece. This network is expected to strengthen its reach and credibility in competitive markets.

Future Plans and Global Footprint

Building on its international momentum, Garuda aims to scale operations to at least 50 countries in the near future. Its earlier entry into Sri Lanka has laid the foundation for broader cross-border expansion. The current focus on the US, Australia, and the Middle East is just the beginning of what the firm hopes will be a sustained global presence.

The move also signals a significant boost for India's ambition to emerge as a hub for advanced drone technologies.
