The EPFO has restored its online services after a scheduled four-day maintenance window, bringing relief to millions of subscribers who were unable to access services such as passbook viewing and online claims. With the portal back online from June 30, 2026, attention has quickly shifted to another much-awaited update: will PF withdrawals through UPI and ATMs also become available?
While the timing has fuelled expectations, EPFO has not yet officially announced the launch of the new withdrawal facility.
The EPFO portal remained unavailable from June 26 to June 29 due to a planned database and software upgrade. According to the organisation, the maintenance was undertaken to strengthen its digital infrastructure and improve service delivery.
With the portal now operational again, members can resume using regular online services, including accessing passbooks and submitting or tracking claims.
The short answer is no official confirmation yet.
Although the upgraded EPFO 3.0 platform is expected to introduce PF withdrawals through UPI and ATM networks, the reopening of the portal does not automatically mean the feature has gone live. EPFO has not issued any notification confirming that subscribers can start withdrawing their provident fund balances using these new channels.
The speculation stems from the fact that testing of EPFO 3.0 has reportedly been completed. If launched, the feature would allow members to access their PF savings more quickly, reducing dependence on the existing online claims process.
For now, subscribers can continue using the restored portal for existing EPFO services. Those waiting for UPI- and ATM-based withdrawals should monitor EPFO's official announcements for details on the launch date, eligibility criteria and operational guidelines.
Until such a notification is issued, reports about the rollout remain speculative.
The return of the EPFO portal is an important milestone in the organisation's digital modernisation efforts. However, while EPFO 3.0 is expected to make PF withdrawals faster and more convenient, UPI and ATM-based withdrawals have not been officially launched as of June 30. Subscribers should rely on official EPFO communication for confirmed updates before expecting the new facility to be available.
