Tata AutoComp Systems Ltd is looking at the railways sector as a new area of business, as per Vice-Chairman Arvind Goel. The company said it sees potential in the modernisation of Indian Railways and the government’s focus on infrastructure and passenger services.
The company has formed partnerships with Skoda, Compin Fainsa, and Air International Thermal Systems. These collaborations are aimed at bringing global railway technologies to India and supporting local production of components.
Tata AutoComp is supplying components for Vande Bharat Express trains. These include propulsion systems, seating, and Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) units. The trains are part of government efforts to improve speed, comfort, and quality of travel.
The company will display its products at the International Railway Equipment Exhibition (IREE) 2025. The exhibition will take place at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi from October 15 to 17. Tata AutoComp will showcase propulsion solutions, HVAC systems, seating, and lightweight rail components.
Through its partnerships, Tata AutoComp plans to manufacture and assemble railway components in India. This approach aims to reduce dependence on imports and develop local capabilities for railway products.
The Indian government is investing in modernisation projects, including high-speed trains like Vande Bharat. The focus is on improving efficiency, passenger comfort, and infrastructure across the network.
Entering the railways sector allows Tata AutoComp to expand beyond automotive components. The company is using its engineering and manufacturing capabilities to explore opportunities in rail transport.
