Investors planning to trade in February 2026 should note that there are no weekday trading holidays during the month. Both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) will operate normally from Monday to Friday.
The only exception is a special live trading session scheduled on Sunday, February 1, to align with the presentation of the Union Budget 2026. Apart from this one‑off event, all trading closures fall strictly on weekends throughout the month.
According to the announced February schedule, the Indian stock exchanges will remain fully operational on all weekdays. There are no mid‑week closures in February 2026, making it a complete trading month aside from routine weekend breaks.
The exchanges have confirmed that they will conduct live trading on Sunday, February 1, coinciding with the Union Budget speech by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. On that day, the pre‑open session will run from 9:00 a.m. to 9:08 a.m., followed by the regular trading session from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This special trading window replaces the otherwise‑closed Sunday schedule.
February 2026 contains seven non‑trading days, all of which occur on weekends. These include Saturdays on February 7, 14, 21 and 28, along with Sundays on February 1, 8, 15 and 22.
Aside from the special Budget‑day trading session on February 1, no additional trading holidays fall within the month. This structure ensures uninterrupted weekday trading and provides investors with clarity on market accessibility throughout February.
Indian stock exchanges have a total of 15 official non‑trading days in 2026. Earlier in the year, January featured two weekday market closures: January 26 for Republic Day and January 15 for the BMC Elections.
These closures did not carry over into February, ensuring no mid‑week interruptions. With February free of weekday market holidays, participants can plan trading activity with minimal scheduling constraints. The month’s pattern reinforces the standard calendar in which most non‑trading days fall on weekends.
February 2026 offers investors a full month of uninterrupted weekday trading with no mid‑week exchange holidays. The only deviation from the standard schedule is the special live trading session on Sunday, February 1, arranged for the Union Budget presentation.
With all other closures limited to weekends, traders can expect stable market availability throughout the month. Routine trading hours, session structures and block deal timings remain unchanged, supporting predictable and orderly market participation.
