Ladli Behna Scheme: Aid to Increase to ₹1,500, Then ₹3,000 by 2028

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, on Friday, announced that financial aid under the Ladli Behna Yojana will be raised from the current ₹1,250 to ₹1,500 per month after Diwali. As per news reports, he said the amount will gradually rise further to ₹3,000 per month by 2028.

Transfers to Women Beneficiaries

At a programme in Petlawad, Jhabua district, Yadav transferred over ₹1,541 crore into the bank accounts of 1.26 crore women enrolled in the scheme. The Ladli Behna Yojana, launched on June 10, 2023, has become one of the state’s key welfare initiatives.

Financial Support Announced

Alongside the Ladli Behna disbursals, the Chief Minister released ₹320.89 crore to more than 53.48 lakh pensioners under the Social Security Pension Scheme. An additional ₹48 crore was transferred as LPG refill subsidies to nearly 31 lakh women.

Budget Allocation for Women

As per the reports, officials stated that a total of ₹27,147 crore has been set aside for women-centric programmes in the state budget. Of this, ₹18,699 crore has been earmarked specifically for the Ladli Behna Yojana. The scheme was a prominent factor in the ruling party’s 2023 assembly election campaign.

Development in Jhabua

During the event, Yadav also dedicated and laid foundation stones for 72 development projects costing ₹345.34 crore. He announced the establishment of a medical college in Jhabua and released a book titled Jhabua ke Sanjeevak, which documents tribal Ayurvedic traditions.
