US Insurer The Hartford Launches First India Tech Centre in Hyderabad

US-Based Insurer, The Hartford has set up a Global Technology Centre in Hyderabad, marking its initial presence in India. Telangana IT Minister D Sridhar Babu inaugurated the facility on Monday, as per PTI reports.
The centre will serve as the insurer’s technology base in the country. The office is situated in the Financial District, a key commercial and IT area in the city.
Facility Details and Hiring
The centre covers 160,000 square feet. According to a state government release, the workforce is expected to expand to nearly 1,200 employees over the next few years.
Recruitment will focus on engineering, digital platforms and artificial intelligence roles. The Hyderabad team will support technology requirements across the company’s global businesses.
Integration with US Hubs
The unit will work alongside The Hartford’s technology teams in Hartford, Charlotte, Chicago and Columbus in the United States. The set-up is intended to allow collaboration across different time zones.
The company said the centre will be involved in enterprise systems, digital development and internal technology modernisation initiatives.
Hyderabad’s Position as a GCC Destination
During the launch, state officials referred to Hyderabad’s record of hosting multinational corporations. Microsoft set up its first major development centre outside the US in the city. Google also operates its largest campus outside its headquarters in Mountain View from Hyderabad.
Other global firms, including McDonald's, Vanguard, Dai-ichi Life and Marriott International, have established global capability centres in the city.
