UK Passport Fees to Rise from April 8; Online Cost Crosses £100

The UK government has announced an increase in passport application fees starting 8 April 2026, pending approval from Parliament. The cost will rise by about 8% for adults and children, both in the UK and overseas, and for online and paper applications.
Online Passport Fees to Cross £100
For the first time, the standard online passport fee for adults applying from within the UK will go above £100.
- Adult online applications: £94.50 → £102
- Child online applications: £61.50 → £66.50
This follows previous fee hikes of 9% in 2023 and 7% in 2024.
Higher Fees for Overseas Applications
Passport applications made from outside the UK will also become more expensive:
- Online overseas applications:
- Adults: £108 → £116.50
- Children: £70 → £75.50
- Paper overseas applications:
- Adults: £120.50 → £130
- Children: £82.50 → £89
Postal and Premium Service Charges Rise
Applying by post will remain more expensive than online:
- Postal applications:
- Adults: £107 → £115.50
- Children: £74 → £80
The premium 1-day service from within the UK will increase from £222 to £239.50.
ETA Travel Permit Fee Also Increased
The Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) fee will rise by 25%, from £16 to £20, starting 8 April 2026.

Passport Application Options
Applicants can apply online, renew or update passports digitally, or get assistance at a Post Office for an additional charge. Paper applications are still available but take longer and cost more. In 2025, 99.7% of standard UK applications were processed within 3 weeks when no extra information was needed.
Conclusion
From April 8, 2026, UK passport and travel permit costs will rise across all application types. Applying online remains the cheapest and fastest option, despite the latest fee hike.
