A Solar Power Plant with a capacity of 4.9 MW has been commissioned at Tala (Kunda ki Dhani) in Jaipur district, as per PTI reports. The project, located in Dekla village, is connected to the 33 kV substation at Tala under Jaipur Discom (North).

The installation spans about 24 bighas of land. It is the largest plant set up in Rajasthan so far under the PM Kusum scheme. Component-C of the scheme allows projects of up to 5 MW capacity.

Electricity Generation

The plant is expected to generate around 25,000 units of electricity on an average day. The output is designated for agricultural consumption, with supply scheduled during daylight hours.

Daytime availability is intended to match irrigation demand, which typically peaks during these hours. This reduces reliance on conventional grid supply for farm usage.

Beneficiary Coverage

Reports indicated that 437 farmers will be connected to the plant. The supply is routed through the local distribution network managed by Jaipur Discom (North).

The project forms part of feeder-level solarisation, where generation is tied to specific agricultural consumers within a defined area.

Statewide Deployment

Across Rajasthan, 1,819 solar plants have been installed under Components A and C of the PM Kusum scheme. These installations account for a combined capacity of 4,027 MW.

The programme focuses on decentralised solar generation, particularly in rural areas, with an emphasis on supporting agricultural electricity demand.

Comparison with Earlier Capacity

Before this project, the largest installation under the scheme in the state was a 4.84 MW plant under Ajmer Discom. The Tala facility exceeds that capacity within the same category.

The increase shows incremental scaling within the limits prescribed under the scheme.

Conclusion

The commissioning adds to Rajasthan’s cumulative capacity under the PM Kusum scheme. It also extends solar-based supply for agriculture through a project with defined output and identified users.
