India’s US Exports Rise 21.83% in August 2026; Shipments to China Jump 52.35%

India’s exports to the US and China both recorded strong growth in August 2026, with the increase particularly sharp in shipments to China, as per news reports.
Exports to the US reached $8.4 billion during the month, while shipments to China stood at $1.9 billion, according to Commerce Ministry data.
US Exports Reach $8.4 Billion
Exports to the US were up 21.83% from a year earlier in August. Imports moved up as well, rising 65.78% to $5.97 billion.
Looking at the first five months of the fiscal year, exports to the US increased 6.17% to $42.8 billion. Imports during the same period stood at $28 billion, up 29.6%.
India and the US are negotiating a trade pact. The US has imposed an additional 10% tariff on India from July 24, 2026.
China Shipments Rise 52.35%
The increase in exports to China was steeper. Shipments rose 52.35% year-on-year to $1.9 billion in August.
India imported $12.77 billion worth of goods from China during the month, 17% higher than a year earlier. From April to August, exports to China rose 38.71% to $9.64 billion, while imports increased 27% to $65.5 billion.
Singapore Trade Also Jumps
Singapore saw one of the biggest increases among India's export markets. Shipments rose 160.96% in August to $1.9 billion.
The April-August figure was $9.5 billion, representing a 96.56% increase from the corresponding period.
UAE Shipments Move Lower
Exports to Germany, South Africa, Tanzania, Australia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Italy also recorded growth.
The UAE, Netherlands and Saudi Arabia moved in the opposite direction. Exports to the UAE fell 26.1% to $2.4 billion in August, which the Commerce Ministry attributed to the West Asia crisis.
Imports From Oman, Taiwan And Brazil Surge
India also recorded higher imports from Russia, South Korea, Singapore, Germany, Oman, Malaysia, Taiwan and Brazil.
Oman imports jumped 157.45% to $1.64 billion, while Taiwan and Brazil recorded increases of 108.31% to $1.6 billion and 132% to $1.12 billion, respectively.

Conclusion
August brought higher Indian exports to both the US and China, while Singapore recorded an even sharper rise in shipments.
