Oil marketing companies have clarified that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG across Karnataka, amid concerns that had led to increased consumer demand.

As per The Economic Times news officials stated that the supply chain remains stable, with fuel moving efficiently from refineries to retail outlets.

Authorities have advised the public to avoid unnecessary purchases, noting that supply levels are sufficient to meet current demand, the news report added.

Fuel Supply Chain Remains Stable

The entire fuel distribution network from refineries and storage terminals to depots and fuel stations is functioning without disruption, as per The Economic Times report.

Retail outlets across the state are operating normally, ensuring uninterrupted access to petrol and diesel for consumers.

Adequate Infrastructure in Place

Karnataka’s petroleum infrastructure includes a refinery with a crude oil processing capacity of 15 million metric tonnes per annum. This capacity supports steady fuel production and distribution, contributing to the overall stability of supply within the state.

LPG Supply and Demand Trends

Domestic LPG availability has also been reported as sufficient. However, there was a temporary spike in demand during March 2026, when daily bookings rose to 3.75 lakh due to panic buying. This led to short term delays in delivery schedules.

Situation Normalising

Following the surge, booking levels have declined to around 3.06 lakh per day. Delivery timelines are gradually returning to normal, indicating that the earlier pressure on supply systems is easing.

Increase in Digital Adoption

There has been a notable rise in the use of digital platforms for LPG bookings, with a large share of consumers opting for online services. Additionally, improved compliance with delivery authentication mechanisms has strengthened transparency and ensured that cylinders are delivered to the intended recipients.

Advisory to Consumers

Oil companies have urged residents not to engage in panic buying, emphasising that fuel supplies remain adequate. Consumers are encouraged to follow regular purchasing patterns to avoid unnecessary strain on the distribution system.

Conclusion

The current fuel supply situation in Karnataka remains stable, with adequate availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG. With demand levels normalising and infrastructure functioning smoothly, authorities continue to advise consumers to avoid panic driven purchases.
