Namma Yatri has expanded its presence by introducing cab pick-up services at Kempegowda International Airport, signalling increased competition in airport transport, as per The Moneycontrol report.
The platform began operations at the airport on April 27, 2026, by setting up booking counters at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. This move enables passengers to directly access ride bookings within the airport premises.
At the same time, Rapido is in discussions with Bangalore International Airport Limited to establish similar facilities, indicating potential expansion by multiple mobility players in the airport ecosystem.
The entry of Namma Yatri is expected to improve cab availability, especially as passengers have been facing difficulty securing rides at the airport.
Cab operations at the airport are governed by a structured access system. Authorised operators are provided dedicated pick-up bays but are required to pay annual charges to the airport operator. These costs are typically passed on to passengers.
For example, Uber charges an airport access fee of around ₹250 per ride along with an additional toll of approximately ₹120, both billed to customers. This pricing structure has contributed to higher overall fares for airport trips.
In December 2025, BIAL introduced new pick-up rules stating that only authorised aggregators can collect passengers directly from the kerbside. Operators without authorisation are required to wait in designated parking areas at both terminals.
These rules impacted several players including Rapido, Namma Yatri and others such as Shoffr. On December 18, both Namma Yatri and Rapido raised concerns, indicating that the system could increase fares, reduce convenience for passengers and favour a limited set of operators.
Currently, authorised operators at the airport include KSTDC, Mega, Uber, Uber Black, Ola, Quick Ride, OHM Electric Cabs and WTI, all of whom are permitted kerbside pick-up access.
Beyond app-based cabs, public transport connectivity continues to evolve. The Namma Metro airport line connecting KR Pura to the airport is expected to become operational by December 2027.
At present, bus services such as Vayu Vajra operated by BMTC and Flybus run by KSRTC provide connectivity to the airport.

The addition of new mobility players at Bengaluru airport reflects a shift towards greater competition, though pricing structures and regulatory conditions continue to shape passenger experience and operator dynamics.
