The Maharashtra government, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has tabled supplementary demands amounting to ₹97,706.40 crore in the assembly.  

This includes a significant allocation of ₹20,552 crore for the farm loan waiver scheme, Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Shetkari Karjmukti Yojana, 2026, amidst ongoing opposition demands for a complete waiver. 

Breakdown of Supplementary Demands 

On June 22, 2026, the Maharashtra government presented supplementary demands totalling ₹97,706.40 crore. The demands include ₹13,825.71 crore for unavoidable expenditure, ₹66,559.40 crore for programme-related spending, and ₹17,321.29 crore for expenditure supported through centrally sponsored schemes. Despite the gross demands, the net additional burden on the exchequer is ₹74,817.66 crore due to adjustments and recoveries. 

Key Allocations 

The largest allocation of ₹20,552 crore is earmarked for the farm loan waiver scheme. Additionally, ₹10,007.10 crore is allocated for interest-free loans under the Centre's Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme. The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) is set to receive ₹8,000 crore for loan and interest liability repayment.

Additional Financial Provisions 

Further provisions include ₹7,367.32 crore for the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) programme, ₹4,000 crore for government office electricity bill payments, ₹3,076 crore for the AMRUT 2.0 mission, and ₹3,000 crore for Simhastha Kumbh Mela planning. Other allocations cover electricity tariff subsidies, scholarship schemes, pension schemes, and salaries for anganwadi workers. 

Department-wise Allocations 

The Cooperation, Marketing and Textiles Department is allocated ₹22,015.42 crore, followed by the Urban Development Department with ₹15,152.43 crore, and the Industries, Energy, Labour and Mining Department with ₹14,760.48 crore. The Finance Department receives ₹9,934 crore, while the Planning Department is allocated ₹9,539.03 crore. 

Conclusion 

The Maharashtra government's supplementary demands of ₹97,706.40 crore include a ₹20,552 crore allocation for the farm loan waiver scheme. Other key allocations cover interest-free loans, electricity bill payments, and various departmental expenses, with an additional net burden of ₹74,817.66 crore.
