India and the United States discussed ongoing cooperation in artificial intelligence and critical minerals under the Pax Silica framework during meetings in Washington, as per The PTI reports.
The talks were held between Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and US Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Jacob S Helberg as part of a review of bilateral engagement.
Officials said the 2 sides would continue work in these areas alongside existing economic and technology ties.
Artificial intelligence and access to critical minerals were identified as key sectors linked to industrial supply chains, including electronics, semiconductors, and energy systems.
India joined Pax Silica in February on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit. The initiative is structured around coordination across different stages of the technology supply chain, covering sourcing, processing, and deployment.
The framework is intended to address supply concerns and improve coordination among participating countries. Critical minerals have drawn attention due to their use in manufacturing and their relevance for energy transition technologies.
The discussions took place during Misri’s 3-day visit to the United States, which includes engagements across trade and defence. In addition to official meetings, he met think tanks and policy experts in Washington DC.
These interactions covered geopolitical developments and their impact on global energy, food, and economic conditions. Reports also discussed the current state of India-US ties and areas where cooperation may continue.
