The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has asked members to join its official WhatsApp channel for provident fund-related updates and information, as per news reports. This is part of the organisation’s digital services.

The announcement was made through an EPFO post on X, formerly Twitter. Members can use the link shared by the organisation to access the official WhatsApp channel.

How to Join the EPFO WhatsApp Channel?

The EPFO WhatsApp channel is available on the official website. The channel carries updates along with links to educational material on EPF-related matters.

Videos shared through the channel explain subjects including EPF advance withdrawals, contributions after rejoining employment and payments under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana.

The channel also carries other EPFO awareness and service-related videos. On its official website, the organisation provides information on EPF advance, withdrawals, UAN activation, claims and transfers, KYC and pension-related services.

The EPF scheme applies mandatorily to employees earning up to ₹15,000 a month. It includes employer contributions, tax-free interest growth and retirement savings, along with provisions for family security.

EPF Features

The scheme has a 12% contribution rate and provides facilities such as online passbook access, account transfers, nomination, and withdrawal options. Members can access information on these services through EPFO’s digital platforms.

Proposed WhatsApp Service

In May 2026, EPFO was reportedly preparing a separate WhatsApp service. A PTI report quoting Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said WhatsApp was being considered because of its widespread use among mobile phone users.

Under the proposed service, members would send ‘Hello’ to an EPFO verified WhatsApp number marked with a green tick. The service was also expected to provide updates to registered mobile numbers in local and regional languages.
