Apple Inc has announced a significant leadership change, with Sabih Khan set to take over as Chief Operating Officer (COO) later this month. He will succeed Jeff Williams, a long-serving Apple executive, who plans to retire by the end of the year. Williams will continue reporting to CEO Tim Cook and overseeing Apple’s design and health initiatives until his departure.
Sabih Khan, of Indian origin, has played a pivotal role in shaping Apple’s global supply chain. Since joining Apple in 1995, he has risen through the ranks and became Senior Vice President of Operations in 2019. Khan has overseen procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and product fulfilment, while championing supplier responsibility, including worker protection, education, and sustainability programs.
Khan has also led Apple’s green manufacturing initiatives, fostering strong supplier partnerships to reduce the company’s environmental footprint. His efforts have ensured Apple remains resilient amid supply chain disruptions and global sustainability challenges.
“Sabih is a brilliant strategist who has been one of the central architects of Apple’s supply chain,” said Tim Cook. “He has helped pioneer new technologies in advanced manufacturing, expanded Apple’s footprint in the U.S., and pushed forward our environmental goals — cutting Apple’s carbon footprint by over 60 percent. Above all, Sabih leads with heart and integrity, and I know he will make an exceptional chief operating officer.”
As Apple prepares for this leadership change, Cook emphasised that Khan is the ideal person to guide Apple’s operations into the future: “I have tremendous confidence in Apple’s future under his leadership in this role.”
