What is BSE 250 LARGEMIDCAP?
The Bombay Stock Exchange indices have for long been making trading easier and more convenient for traders all across the globe. The BSE 250 LARGEMIDCAP index is a transparent index made to represent the top 85% of the total market cap under S&P BSE ALLCAP. It refers to the number of shares held by 100 LARGECAP and 150 MIDCAP companies. It represents the performance of both the LARGECAP as well as the MIDCAP companies, making it easier for investors to make an informed choice before investing their money into any company.

The BSE divides the companies based on their relative market capitalisations. They are divided into LARGECAP, MIDCAP and SMALLCAP. The division is made using the 80-15-5 segment rule, where 80-15-5 represents the total market cap of ALLCAP the companies comprise.
How to calculate BSE 250 LARGEMIDCAP?
Almost all the BSE indices are calculated based on the free float market capitalisations. BSE 250 LARGEMIDCAP is also the same in that respect.
S&P BSE 250 LARGEMIDCAP represents 85% of the total market cap of S&P BSE ALLCAP. It comprises 100 LARGECAP and 150 MIDCAP companies. They are divided as follows-
- LARGECAP companies have a market cap of 20,000 crore INR or more.
- MIDCAP companies have a market cap between 20,000 and 5,000 crore INR.
- SMALLCAP companies have a market cap below 5,000 INR.
For any company to be listed on SENSEX, the following criteria need to be fulfilled-
- The company must be listed on BSE for a year or more.
- Most of the stocks of the company should be liquid.
- A clean market sheet is a must.
- The revenue earned by the company should be generated from its core activities.
- The sector focus of the company should be in parallel with the Indian Equity Market.
The value of the BSE 250 LARGEMIDCAP index keeps changing with the change in the value of the S&P BSE 250 LARGEMIDCAP share price, which is calculated as follows-
BSE 250 LARGEMIDCAP Share Price = Total Free-Float Market Capitalisation x Base Index Value / Base Market Capitalisation
