Sensesemi Technologies, based out of Bengaluru, has raised ₹25 crore (around $2.75 million) in a seed funding round led by Piper Serica, as per news reports.
The round also included LetsVenture Angel Fund, Sun Icon Ventures, MyAsiaVC, Whitepine Investments, Jain Oncor, REAN Foundation, and angel investors such as Niraj Shah and Deepak Khanna.
The company said the funds will be used to advance product development, including chip tape-outs and reference designs.
Part of the capital will also go towards expanding its engineering team and working with device makers and original design manufacturers. Field trials with potential customers are expected to form part of the validation process.
Founded in 2014 by Vijay Muktamath and Namit Varma, Sensesemi is a DLI-approved fabless semiconductor firm.
It focuses on designing mixed-signal, low-power chips for edge applications. Its approach centres on integrating sensing, signal processing, and on-device intelligence directly onto silicon.
Sensesemi is developing an analog AI inference processor aimed at lowering power consumption in battery-operated and implantable devices.
The company said analog-domain inferencing can reduce energy usage compared with conventional digital approaches. This is intended for applications where power, size, and cost constraints are tighter.
The startup’s chips are designed for industrial IoT, automotive, and medical devices. Industrial use cases include predictive maintenance, vision-based inspection, and environmental monitoring.
Automotive applications include driver monitoring and multi-sensor assistance systems. In healthcare, the chips are intended for cardiac monitoring, neurostimulation, and drug delivery devices.
The company plans to tape out and validate its first 2 test chips in 2026. Work on a production-grade version of the first-generation chip is expected to continue through 2027, following testing in operational settings.

The funding will support Sensesemi’s near-term chip development and testing plans. The company is preparing for initial tape-outs and validation over the next 2 years.
