Aviation technology startup Nalwa Aero on Thursday announced the signing of a strategic collaboration with helicopter operators Global Vectra Helicorp, Pawan Hans Ltd and Himalayan Heli Services to introduce electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) air taxi services in India, as per PTI reports.
The initiative aims to offer ultra-low-cost short-haul air connectivity, with fares starting at ₹200 per passenger on select routes.
The agreements were signed at the ongoing Wings India aviation exhibition in Hyderabad. As part of the collaboration, Himalayan Heli Services has placed pre-orders for Nalwa Aero’s upcoming eVTOL aircraft.
The partnerships will focus on deploying electric aircraft across a range of high-demand use cases, including pilgrimage travel, air ambulance operations, urban and intercity mobility, and offshore logistics transport.
The company said the initial deployment will prioritise pilgrimage routes such as the Char Dham Yatra corridors, along with urban and regional air taxi services aimed at improving short-distance connectivity.
Nalwa Aero said electric propulsion enables significantly lower operating costs, reduced noise pollution and zero in-flight carbon emissions, making it commercially viable to serve routes that are currently uneconomical for conventional helicopters.
The quieter operating profile is expected to be particularly beneficial for religious destinations and densely populated urban centres.
“In collaboration with experienced operators like Pawan Hans, Global Vectra and Himalaya Heli Services, we aim to introduce air taxi services at fares starting from not more than ₹200 per passenger on select short routes,” a company spokesperson said.
The company has already received Design Organisation Approval from Indian aviation authorities, while its application for Type Certification has also been accepted.
Nalwa Aero is currently developing sub-scale prototypes of its eVTOL aircraft and is targeting full-scale operational deployment by 2028.

With strategic operator partnerships, regulatory progress and a focus on ultra-low fares, Nalwa Aero is positioning itself to play a key role in India’s emerging electric air mobility ecosystem, spanning religious tourism, emergency medical services and urban transport.
