Tata Power Completes Key UP Transmission Project, Boosts Grid Capacity

Tata Power commissions key UP transmission lines, enabling 4,000 MW evacuation and strengthening power supply and grid stability in the state.

Tata Power Company has successfully commissioned 2 major transmission lines in Uttar Pradesh:

  • 400 kV Tanda–Gonda double circuit line
  • 400 kV Gonda–Basti double circuit line

These lines cover a total of 154 circuit kilometres (Ckm).

Completion of SEUPPTCL Project

With this, Tata Power has completed all Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission lines and substations under the SEUPPTCL project.

The project includes:

  • 3 lines of 765 kV (951 Ckm)
  • 14 lines of 400 kV (566 Ckm)
  • 3 substations with 3460 MVA capacity

Supports Power Supply in Uttar Pradesh

The newly completed transmission network will:

  • Help evacuate over 4,000 MW of power
  • Improve grid stability
  • Support growing electricity demand in the state

This will ensure a more reliable and efficient power supply across Uttar Pradesh.

Execution and Infrastructure Scale

The project involved large-scale work, including:

  • Use of 45,000+ metric tonnes of steel
  • Installation of 8,600 km of conductors
  • Handling 139 critical crossings like railways, rivers, and highways
  • Construction in forest areas with environmental compliance

Expanding Transmission Network

After this project, Tata Power Company Limited has:

  • 5,466 Ckm of operational transmission network
  • 1,863 Ckm under construction

This strengthens its position in India’s power transmission sector.
