RattanIndia Power Q1 Results: Company Returns to Profit as EBITDA Rises 29%, Margins Improve

RattanIndia Power reported a turnaround in its financial performance for the first quarter of FY27, posting a net profit after reporting a loss in the corresponding period last year. The improvement was driven by stronger operating performance, higher plant efficiency, and better margins, despite a marginal decline in revenue.
The company also highlighted the robust performance of its Amravati thermal power plant, which continued to operate at high utilisation levels during the April-June quarter.
RattanIndia Power Swings to Profit in Q1 FY27
For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, RattanIndia Power reported a net profit of ₹45.85 crore, compared with a net loss of ₹13.11 crore in the same quarter last year.
Revenue from operations declined 2.9% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹798.55 crore, from ₹821.96 crore in the year-ago period.
However, the company's operating performance improved significantly. EBITDA increased 29.3% YoY to ₹124.97 crore, while the EBITDA margin expanded to 15.7%, compared with 11.8% in the corresponding quarter of FY26. The margin expansion indicates improved operational efficiency despite lower revenue.
Amravati Plant Delivers Strong Operating Performance
The company attributed the improved financial performance to the continued operational strength of its 1,350 MW Amravati thermal power plant in Maharashtra.
During the quarter, the plant recorded a Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 92.43% and a Plant Availability Factor (PAF) of 98.15%, reflecting high utilisation and reliability. According to the company, the facility ranked among the top-performing thermal power plants in Maharashtra and across India during the quarter.
To support uninterrupted operations, RattanIndia Power received and unloaded 449 coal rakes, averaging 4.9 rakes per day, ensuring adequate fuel availability.
Power Sales Beyond Long-Term PPA
In addition to supplying electricity under its long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), the company sold 17.99 million units (MUs) of electricity on the power exchange during the quarter.
These exchange sales generated ₹15.05 crore in additional revenue. The company currently has a 1,200 MW PPA with MSEDCL, while the remaining capacity is sold through the open market.
Conclusion
RattanIndia Power started FY27 on a stronger footing, supported by improved operating efficiency, better plant performance, and a return to profitability. While revenue remained slightly lower year-on-year, higher margins and stable power generation helped offset the decline. Going forward, sustained plant utilisation and efficient fuel management will remain key factors in maintaining earnings momentum.
