The Nifty IT index experienced a significant rise today, climbing 2.6% amidst a flat broader market.
This surge was led by gains in major IT stocks such as Infosys, Wipro, TCS, and Coforge, driven by positive developments in global tech markets and company-specific announcements.
The Nifty IT index, as of 10:30 AM, stood at 29,662.15, marking a 2.61% increase. This rise was primarily influenced by an overnight rally in tech stocks on Wall Street, where the Nasdaq Composite reached a record high of 26,934.84, closing 0.9% higher.
Optimism around AI, cloud, and enterprise technology spending contributed to this positive sentiment.
Infosys and Coforge led the charge, each rising 4% to ₹1,206 and ₹1,443, respectively. LTM shares increased by 3.3% to ₹4,121, while Persistent Systems saw a 3% gain, trading at ₹5,253.
Other notable performers included Wipro, Mphasis, Tata Consultancy Services, HCLTech, and Tech Mahindra, with gains ranging from 1% to 3%.
Several company-specific announcements further boosted investor confidence. TCS announced a partnership with French AI firm Mistral to provide advanced AI solutions globally.
This collaboration positions TCS as the first global system integrator to utilise Mistral Forge for custom AI models.
Wipro expanded its partnership with US-based ServiceNow to implement AI-driven workflows across IT, HR, procurement, and cybersecurity. This integration aims to enhance operational efficiency and scale AI adoption for enterprises.

The Nifty IT index's rise reflects the broader optimism in the tech sector, driven by global market trends and strategic partnerships by Indian IT companies. These developments underscore the resilience of the IT sector amidst global macroeconomic uncertainties.
