JSW Energy has taken another step towards strengthening its renewable energy infrastructure with the commissioning of a wind blade manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat, as per the exchange filing.
The new plant is expected to support the company's growing wind power pipeline while improving supply chain efficiency and reducing dependence on external suppliers.
The newly operational facility has the capability to manufacture up to 450 wind blades annually, supporting wind projects with a combined capacity of approximately 600 MW. The plant will produce 82-metre blades designed for 4 MW wind turbine generators.
The commissioning comes as JSW Energy continues to expand its position in the wind power segment. The company currently operates 3.9 GW of installed wind capacity and has an additional 6.5 GW of locked-in hybrid projects where wind energy forms a key component.
It also has 2.4 GW of locked-in wind projects, making it one of the country's major wind energy developers.
Another wind blade manufacturing facility in Chitradurga, Karnataka, is also progressing through the final stages before becoming operational.
By bringing blade manufacturing capabilities within its own operations, JSW Energy expects to improve project execution while reducing logistics costs and exposure to fluctuations in component pricing.
The facility is also expected to support the company's future renewable energy expansion plans as demand for wind power equipment continues to grow.
Commenting on the development, Sharad Mahendra, Joint Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of JSW Energy, said, "The commissioning of our Halol wind blade manufacturing plant is a defining milestone in our journey towards building a resilient and self-reliant renewable energy platform."
Mahendra added, "By bringing critical manufacturing capabilities in-house, we are not only securing our supply chain against volatility but also enhancing the cost competitiveness and returns of our wind portfolio."
JSW Energy's total locked-in generation capacity currently stands at 32.1 GW. This includes 13.7 GW of operational assets, 13.8 GW under construction and a development pipeline of 4.6 GW.
The company has also secured 29.6 GWh of energy storage capacity, comprising 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage and 3.2 GWh of battery energy storage systems.
Looking ahead, JSW Energy aims to achieve 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030 while continuing its long-term clean energy expansion strategy.
