HDFC Bank reported a corporate social responsibility (CSR) spend of ₹1,068.03 crore in the financial year ended March 31, 2025. This was ₹123 crore higher than the amount spent in the previous financial year, according to the bank’s annual CSR report released on Tuesday.

The increase shows a continuation of programmes already in place rather than the launch of new initiatives. CSR spending was spread across multiple sectors and regions during the year.

Total CSR Investment Crosses ₹6,000 Crore

As of March 31, 2025, the bank’s cumulative CSR expenditure stood at ₹6,176 crore. This includes spending over several years on projects related to social development, livelihoods, health, education, and rural infrastructure.

The bank has disclosed these figures as part of its statutory CSR reporting, which outlines spending levels and areas of intervention.

Parivartan Completes 10 Years

FY25 marked 10 years of HDFC Bank’s CSR programme, Parivartan. Since its launch, the programme has reached 10.56 crore people, according to the bank.

Activities under Parivartan have been carried out across 28 states and 8 Union Territories. Projects are designed and implemented at the local level, based on district and community requirements.

Presence in Districts and Border Areas

CSR projects have been implemented in 102 of the 112 Aspirational Districts identified by the central government. These districts are targeted for development due to lower socio-economic indicators.

In addition, the bank said it has carried out rural development work in 298 border villages. These initiatives focus on basic services, livelihoods and community infrastructure.

Focus areas for CSR funding

During FY25, CSR funds were allocated across 6 areas: rural development; healthcare and hygiene; education and skill development; financial literacy and inclusion; livelihood support; and natural resource management.

The bank stated that these focus areas are aligned with 10 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Projects are implemented through partnerships with non-government organisations and local bodies.
