What is Ex-Date and Record Date?

The ex-date is the first day a stock trades without the entitlement to a declared dividend or other corporate action. Investors must purchase the shares before the ex-date to become eligible.

The record date is the date on which the company determines the list of eligible shareholders. Since Indian stock markets follow the T+1 settlement cycle, investors generally need to buy the shares at least one trading day before the record date to qualify for the dividend or other corporate action.

Conclusion

Several companies are set to trade ex-date on August 6, 2026, with dividend payouts ranging from ₹0.10 to ₹55 per share. Investors should keep track of ex-dates and record dates to ensure they qualify for dividends, rights issues or REIT income distributions, as buying shares on or after the ex-date will not make them eligible for these benefits.
