About Praj Industries
Praj Industries Limited is engaged in the process and project engineering business. The company was incorporated in 1985 and headquartered in Pune. It has a global presence, with more than 750 references in more than 75 countries. During 1989-1991, the company established an R&D Center for ethanol production to strengthen its commitment to boosting the ethanol industry further.
It diversified its business into synergistic fields like brewery engineering during 1991-1993. In 1994, the company went public and got listed on the stock exchanges. During 2000-2002, the company entered the East European Market. In addition, it launched multi-feed, multi-product technology for distillery operations. The company surpassed the toll of ₹1,000 crore in turnover during 2002-2004. In 2009, Praj Industries entered the critical process equipment and system business. It continued business growth and commissioned a bio-ethanol plant for Bio wanze SA, Belgium, in 2010.
In 2014, the company achieved milestones in the brewery business by receiving orders from SAB Miller, Namibia and Heineken, Myanmar. It signed a Construction License Agreement (CLA) with Gevo, Inc., USA, to commercialise technology to produce Isobutanol in 2019.
Business Segments
- BioEnergy: Under this segment, the company manufacture 1G ethanol, advanced bio-ethanol and Compressed Bio Gas (CBG).
- High Purity Systems: The company addresses the pharmaceutical, biotech, cosmetics and wellness sectors through this segment. It operates this business through Praj Hipurity Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary which provides high-purity water and hygienic systems to the pharma industry.
- Critical Process Equipment and Skids: This segment serves a wider sectoral requirement for high-end equipment and systems finding applications in the oil and gas, petrochemical, fertiliser and chemical industries.
- Wastewater Treatment: Under this segment, it offers integrated wastewater treatment systems. This vertical addresses industrial applications for high-quality water.
- Brewery and Beverages: This division offers customised plants, equipment and technology solutions to customers in the brewing industry.
- Praj Engineering and Infra Ltd: It is a wholly owned subsidiary which is engaged in the engineering and infrastructure business.
- Praj HiPurity Systems Ltd: This wholly-owned subsidiary provides the pharma industry high-purity water and hygienic systems.
Key Personnel
Shishir Joshipura, CEO and Managing Director Shishir is the company's current MD and CEO. He has over 35 years of experience in various fields of engineering. He commenced his career with Thermax Ltd and held several key positions to rise through the ranks to become Executive Vice President and Global Head of the Cooling and heating business. He served as MD of SKF India Ltd from 2009 to 2018 before joining Praj. He is a Mechanical Engineer from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani and an Advanced Management Graduate from Harvard Business School.Corporate Actions
