Bharat Forge Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to set up India’s first private-sector Marine Gas Turbine (MGT) facility.
The project will be built in Visakhapatnam inside the Andhra Pradesh Defence Manufacturing Corridor. The announcement was made during an aerospace and defence investment conclave in Puttaparthy.
The event was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The new complex will be located near the Naval Dockyard, INS Eksila, and the Eastern Naval Command headquarters.

The project is expected to create about 750 direct and indirect jobs.
The facility will also serve as a repair and overhaul hub for navies of friendly countries in the region.
Marine gas turbines power India’s frontline warships. Until now, India depended heavily on foreign supply chains for maintenance and parts.
Recent global disruptions have slowed repairs and affected operational readiness. This project aims to reduce that dependency and strengthen defence self-reliance.
Bharat Forge’s new marine gas turbine complex marks a major step in India’s push for defence self-reliance. By bringing repair, overhaul and development capabilities to India, the project will strengthen naval readiness, create jobs and position the country as a regional defence hub.
