Mutual Fund Invests ₹12,944 Crore in 2026 IPOs; 3 Fund Houses Account for Over 52%

Mutual Funds invested ₹12,944 crore in mainboard IPOs in 2026, with a significant share of the investment coming from three large fund houses, as per The Business Standard news report.
ICICI Prudential, SBI and Nippon India together invested ₹6,770 crore, which was more than 52% of the total. The figures cover the period up to August 31.
ICICI Prudential Invests the Most
ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund was the largest buyer by investment value among the fund houses listed. It invested ₹2,450 crore across 13 companies. Nippon India Mutual Fund invested ₹2,026 crore across 10 companies.
SBI Mutual Fund invested ₹2,294 crore, slightly less than ICICI Prudential, but did so across only six companies. It had the highest market-cap weighted stake among the fund houses in the data, at 3.8%.
Weighted Stakes Vary
Nippon India had a market-cap weighted stake of 2.4%, while ICICI Prudential's stood at 1.9%. Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund had a 2.2% stake after investing ₹553 crore across two companies.
HDFC Mutual Fund invested ₹674 crore across seven companies, with a market-cap weighted stake of 1%. Bandhan Mutual Fund invested ₹545 crore across 10 companies and had a 0.7% stake.
Other Fund Houses
Sundaram Mutual Fund invested ₹469 crore across three companies and had a market-cap weighted stake of 1.5%. Motilal Oswal Mutual Fund invested ₹435 crore across five companies, with a 0.7% stake.
Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund invested ₹423 crore across five companies and had a 1.4% stake. Baroda BNP Paribas Mutual Fund invested ₹294 crore across four companies, with a 0.6% market-cap weighted stake.
Fund Participation in IPOs
The leading fund houses were also among the institutional buyers in Shadowfax, Amagi, Omnitech and Sedemac Mechatronics, which were listed among the top-performing IPOs of 2026.
The data shows that mutual fund investment in 2026 IPOs was concentrated among a few large fund houses. ICICI Prudential led by value, while SBI had the highest market-cap weighted stake.
