As part of recent changes in its prepaid offerings, Vodafone Idea (Vi) has shortened the validity period on select popular prepaid plans. As per the news reports, Customers opting for the ₹189 and ₹98 plans will now receive reduced service duration, although major features remain unchanged.
As per the news reports, Vodafone Idea has updated its ₹189 prepaid plan, which earlier provided 28 days of validity. Under the new structure, users will get 26 days of service while still receiving unlimited calling, 300 SMS, and now 2GB of data , up from the previous 1GB.
Similarly, the ₹98 plan has been revised from 14 days to 10 days but continues to offer unlimited voice calls and 200MB of data. These adjustments take immediate effect and can be viewed on Vi’s official platform and Paytm. However, some third-party apps like PhonePe may still show the outdated validity.
For users seeking more value, Vi offers alternative packs that provide longer service periods with additional benefits. The ₹218 plan covers 1 full month and includes 4GB of data along with free SMS. Another budget-friendly option is the ₹95 plan, offering 4GB data for 14 days plus access to a SonyLIV subscription, catering to customers looking for short-term entertainment bundling.

These adjustments could primarily affect users who rely on low-cost, short-term recharges. While the cost per plan remains unchanged, the reduced validity means a higher cost per day for consumers. This might prompt a shift in user preferences towards plans with longer durations and enhanced promotional offerings.
On September 25, 2025, Vodafone Idea share price opened at ₹8.63 on NSE, above the previous close of ₹8.59. During the day, it surged to ₹8.84 and dipped to ₹8.58. The stock is trading at ₹8.78 as of 1:58 PM. The stock registered a significant gain of 2.21%.
Over the past week, it has moved up by 4.52%, over the past month, it has moved up by 33.64%, and over the past 3 months, it has moved up by 23.14%.
Vodafone Idea’s move to reduce the validity of its ₹189 and ₹98 prepaid plans signals a subtle yet impactful change in pricing structure. While the benefits remain largely consistent, reduced service days place focus on alternative offerings for better value.
